I am available to support pet owners across the Gold Coast and Northern NSW, and further should you need me (travel expenses may apply).

As a veterinarian, I look for changes in comfort, mobility, appetite, breathing, pain, anxiety, dignity, and overall quality of life.
But beyond the medical signs, I also understand the deep bond people share with their animals and how difficult it can be to know when enough is enough. I believe this decision should come from a place of love, not guilt.

Every family, every pet and every goodbye is different.
I believes there is no “right” way to say final farewells to your pet - only the way that feels right for you.

Some families want time, conversation, candles, music, rituals, and space to sit with their pet slowly and intentionally. Others feel more comfortable with a quiet, simple, and gentle goodbye. Some people need reassurance and guidance through every step, while others already know exactly what they want.

I meet people where they are, without judgement or expectation. My approach is deeply personalised, intuitive, and compassionate.

You will never be rushed. There is no “standard” experience. I will gently guide the process based on your pet, your family and what feels most important to you in that moment.

For families who need it, I can also help coordinate and support the entire process - from quality-of-life discussions and euthanasia through to aftercare and cremation arrangements, helping to ease some of the emotional burden during an incredibly difficult time.

Above all, this is about providing a peaceful, meaningful goodbye with dignity, compassion and genuine care.

I understand that many families feel anxious about what to expect, and one of the most common thing we hear is, “I just don’t want them to suffer.” My goal is to make the process as peaceful, gentle and supported as possible for both you and your pet.

The process begins with an initial phone conversation with me. During this call, I will discuss your pet’s individual circumstances, answer any questions you may have, and talk through options for aftercare and cremation if needed.
This conversation is also an opportunity for you to discuss any wishes, concerns, or preferences you have for the appointment itself.

Once a booking has been arranged, I will come to your home at the scheduled time. There is never any rushing. On arrival, I will spend time with you and your pet, gently explaining the process again and ensuring everyone feels comfortable before proceeding.

A small intravenous cannula (a soft, flexible tube) is then placed, usually into your pet’s leg. This is similar to having blood taken and is generally very well tolerated. Through this cannula, your pet will first receive pain relief and a gentle sedative to help them feel calm, relaxed and comfortable.

You are welcome to remain with your pet the entire time. Family members, children and even other pets are welcome to be present if that feels right for your family. I will always adapt the environment and experience to suit your wishes -whether that means a quiet and simple goodbye, time for ceremony or rituals, music, candles, being outdoors in a favourite spot, or simply sitting together peacefully.

When you, your pet are ready, the final medication is gently administered through the cannula. Your pet will peacefully pass away without pain, fear, or distress, surrounded by love and familiarity.

Afterwards, families are welcome to spend as much time with their pet as they need. If you choose private cremation with ashes returned, or aftercare without ashes returned, I can help coordinate the entire process for you. These options can all be discussed beforehand so that you do not need to make difficult decisions during the appointment itself.

To make the experience feel as gentle and uninterrupted as possible, payment is organised ahead of time so families can remain fully present with their pet during the goodbye.

Standard appointments are available during opening hours. For urgent or after-hours support, Dr Ray will always do his best to assist when available, though immediate responses outside business hours cannot be guaranteed
